Q: What are 5 quick facts that your best friend would use to introduce you?
A: Energizer bunny is definitely one nickname I have from my friends, also passionate, caring, silly and a bit crazy.
Q: What is your occupation? What inspired you to pick this profession?
A: I actually run two businesses, I am a bookkeeper professionally and I love what I do for those clients, but my true passion or calling has to be my personal training business. Rock Your Body Fitness started off as an outlet for me to share my health and fitness journey, and it has grown into so much more than that. I feel so grateful to be able to reach so many people all over the world, inspiring people of all ages/sex/races to pick up weights, to take better care of themselves and to never quit! Inspiration has come from many people, but my first influence was my mom. Watching her at the age of 5 teaching group fitness, as we age it is abundantly clear that the lifestyle she has chosen is helping her stay fit and healthy. It inspired me to live the same life, and help others at the same time.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your athletic background/what sports or type of fitness you do?
A: I was in gymnastics/rhythmic gymnastics as a kid, along with being a track athlete and volleyball player in high school. Running became a major part of my life in my mid 20’s, then I started teaching group fitness (bootcamp, intervals, and weight lifting classes). It wasn’t until I started training at Club Phoenix with a good friend of mine, that I discovered bodybuilding and all the components that go along with it. I love challenging my body, sculpting it the way I want it and pushing it to it’s limit. Now, I am currently training for my first powerlifting competition in May 2018, along with learning Olympic lifting.
Q: Do you have a life-changing experience related to your athletic background/experience that shaped your future self or future direction?
A: In all honestly, my anxiety disorder change everything for me in 2006. After years of not taking care of myself, abusing my body and not being kind to myself - my body started shutting down. Debilitating panic attacks, insomnia, and depression. I knew after 6 months of my body feeling this way, I needed to make a drastic change, so I did and I have never looked back. I know what it feels like to have little control over your body, and exercise was the one thing that helped. I had an outlet, and I want to help others find their outlet too!
Q: What would you say to someone who is trying to start living a healthier lifestyle?
A: Be patient with yourself. Habits take time to break, and new ones take time to create. Make goals for yourself, and work towards them each and every single day.
Q: Do you set goals? Will you share those goals with us?
A: YES! I have goals, multiple goals actually. I like having something to work towards, I push harder that way. Currently I am planning on competing in powerlifting in May 2018, and I want to finish my holistic sport nutrition the summer of 2018 as well.
Q: What do you think the world needs most at this time in history?
A: Kindness, and generosity. I feel there is way too much hate and negativity in the world. We all need to help each other, boost each other up and show gratitude for all the amazing things in our lives.
